چکیده

Strong anion exchange resin (Spectra/Gel IE 1x8) has been investigated as adsorbent for the efficient removal of Cr(VI) ions from synthetic wastewater solutions. Batch experiments were conducted with initial Cr(VI) ions concentration ranging from 25-300 mg/L. Different parameters influencing Cr(VI) adsorption process such as; solution pH, Cr(VI) and adsorbent concentration and contact time were investigated. Results obtained revealed that Cr(VI) was successfully retained by the resin. Equilibrium was established within 30 minutes for initial Cr(VI) concentration up to100 mg/L. The equilibrium data for adsorption of Cr(VI) was fitted with both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, however, Langmuir isotherm model was found to be more suitable for the Cr(VI) adsorption and maximum adsorption capacity of the Cr(VI) was found to be 173.8 mg/g. The adsorption process followed second order kinetics. The resin was regenerated by using 4M NaOH as an eluent with Cr(VI) adsorption efficiency higher than 83% after three regeneration cycles.

Removal of chromium (VI) from aqueous solutions using Lewatit FO36 nano ion exchange resin

The removal of the chromium (VI) ion from aqueous solutions with the Lewatit FO36 ion-exchange resin is described at different conditions. The effects of adsorbent dose, initial metal concentration, contact time and pH on the removal of chromium (VI) were investigated. The batch ion exchange process was relatively fast and it reached equilibrium after about 90 min of contact. The ion exchange p...

Total removal of heavy metal from mixed plating rinse wastewater ABSTRACT A mixed plating rinse wastewater containing zinc, hexavalent chromium, trivalent chromium, and cyanide with total dissolved solids

A mixed plating rinse wastewater containing zinc, hexavalent chromium, trivalent chromium, and cyanide with total dissolved solids of 424 mg/1 was treated by a model consisting of a sand filter and ion exchange columns. A strongly acidic cation resin in hydrogen form and a strongly basic anion resin in hydroxide form were used in the columns as cationic and anionic exchangers, respectively. The...

Comparative studies on adsorptive removal of chromium from contaminated water using different adsorbents

Chromium, especially the hexavalent form, is toxic to humans. Industries like chrome plating, textile, electroplating discharge Cr(VI) in their effiuents. Wastes containing chromium are environmentally persistent and toxic, and cannot be degraded or detoxified biologically. Various techniques developed for the removal of heavy metals include chemical precipitation, ion exchange and adsorption. ...

Biosorption and biotransformation of Cr (VI) by hexavalent chromium-stressed environmental fungal isolates from wastewater

As conventional physico-chemical heavy-metal remediation technologies like ion-exchange, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis etc. are becoming extremely expensive, the possibility of use of microorganisms in bioremediation or biorecovery of different heavy metals from industrial effluents is extensively explored by different workers. Hexavalent chromium stressed environmental fungal isolates from ...
